Connect a cTrader account

How to connect cTrader accounts to Trademetry through cTrader's own sign-in, using an approval link or signing in yourself, with no password shared.

cTrader connects differently from MT4 and MT5. There is no broker server to type and no password to store. Instead, the account holder signs in on cTrader's own screen and chooses which of their accounts to share with Trademetry. You never see or hold their cTrader password.

Because of that, cTrader accounts are not created from the Add Account form the way MetaTrader logins are. They come in through a short approval flow: someone grants access on cTrader, the granted accounts appear for you to review, and you add the ones you want.

Two ways to grant access

  1. Send an approval link to the client (recommended)

Trademetry generates a single-use link you send to the account holder. They open it, sign in to cTrader themselves, and pick which accounts to share. Nothing about their login ever passes through you — the best choice when the account belongs to a client.

  2. Sign in to cTrader yourself

You complete the cTrader sign-in directly. Use this for an account your firm owns or manages, or when you are sitting with the holder. You confirm an attestation first — either that the client authorized you, or that the firm owns or manages the account.

This is the usual path when the account is a client's.

  1. Create the link

From Add Account, choose cTrader, then Send approval link to client. Optionally attach a contact so the account is tied to the right person from the start, and select Create approval link.

  2. Send it to the client

Copy the link and send it however you normally reach them. Each link is single-use and expires in 7 days, so generate a fresh one if it lapses.

  3. The client signs in on cTrader

When they open the link they see a short page explaining that your workspace is asking to connect their cTrader account, and a Continue to cTrader button. That takes them to cTrader's own consent screen, where they sign in with their cTrader ID and tick the accounts they want to share.

  4. They're done

After approving, the client lands on a confirmation page and can close the window. The accounts they shared are now waiting for you to review.

Signing in yourself

  1. Choose the method

From Add Account, choose cTrader, then Sign in to cTrader myself.

  2. Confirm the attestation

Pick the statement that applies — a client's account you were authorized to connect, or an account your firm owns or manages — and confirm it is true. The Sign in to cTrader button stays disabled until you do.

  3. Complete the cTrader consent

You're taken to cTrader's consent screen. Sign in and choose which accounts to share. When you come back, those accounts are waiting for review.

Review and add the granted accounts

Granting access does not add the accounts automatically — you decide which ones to keep. The Accounts page shows a cTrader approvals badge with a count when accounts are waiting; open it to see them.

  1. Open cTrader approvals

From the Accounts page header, follow the cTrader approvals badge.

  2. Add the accounts you want

For each account, set a label (and a contact, if you use the CRM), then choose Add. It becomes a normal Trademetry account from that point on.

  3. Dismiss the rest

Accounts you don't want can be Dismissed so the list stays clean. An account that was refused — a netting account, for example — shows a Refused badge with the reason instead of an Add button.

After an account is added, Trademetry imports its trade history and reconstructs the equity curve just as it does for MetaTrader accounts, and you point copiers at it the same way. Whether a cTrader account is a master or a follower is decided on the copier, not on the account.

When an account needs reconnecting

cTrader access is granted for a limited time and can be revoked by the holder. If an account's access lapses, it shows as disconnected with a Reconnect button on the account itself.

Sending a new approval link does not repair a disconnected account. Use the Reconnect button on the account to renew access — you'll sign in to cTrader again and confirm the attestation once more.

What's supported today

cTrader support is in its first release, and a few limits apply. They don't affect MetaTrader accounts.

  • Hedging accounts only. Netting cTrader accounts can't be connected yet and are refused at link time with a reason.
  • No pending orders to cTrader followers. Pending orders on a master are not copied onto cTrader follower accounts; market fills are.
  • Slippage setting ignored on cTrader followers. The per-copier slippage value has no effect when the follower is a cTrader account.

You never register your own cTrader developer app. Trademetry uses a single shared cTrader application, so on the consent screen your clients always see Trademetry — including on white-label workspaces.
